Owned and managed by the Olsen family since 1976, San Huberto is synonymous with Patagonian fly fishing. Situated on a 24,000 acre family estancia, the lodge has been a firm favourite with return guests for decades. Serving home grown food and access to 25 miles of privileged access along the Malleo, San Huberto is so widely renowned for a reason.
Fishing
San Huberto is best known, and best loved, for its exceptional position for fishing the famed trout waters of the Malleo. With 25 miles of private access to the river for wading, as well as the Huaca Mamuil creek, the place is a mecca for dry fly fishing.
Welcoming no more than 12 fishermen at a time, San Huberto retains its exclusivity and quality fishing.
Aside from the Malleo, San Huberto is also a great location from which to fish the Aluminé river and Tromen Lake, both a short drive away.
Accommodation
The lodge at San Huberto was renovated in 1999, and provides comfortable lodging for up to 16 guests across 4 single and 6 double rooms. The lodge has a spacious shared lounge, as well as a well stocked bar, a hot tub and an excellent quincho for sharing the lodge’s mouth-watering asados.
As part of a working, family-run estancia with a small herd of cattle, San Huberto is an authentic slice of Patagonia.
The lodge is located just 45 minutes’ drive from the airport, making it easily accessible and a great first stop on arrival.
Dining
All the food at San Huberto is prepared by the current owner, Ronnie Olsen. It also mostly comes from the estancia itself, from the organic vegetables to the free range beef and lamb.
Sundays at San Huberto are the revered asado days, well worth planning your trip around.
Off the water
San Huberto offers plenty of activities for the non-angler, alongside its onsite hot tub and massage facilities. Most of these take place offsite, and include horse riding, birdwatching and trekking in the neighbouring Lanín National Park.
